    Good day Petko,

Regarding portfolio EA’s, you taught us in your courses how to edit the code of the portfolio EA especially on how to disable the trading of a particular EA within the portfolio.  However, can you tell us how to adjust the position size as well? Where do we go in the code to do that, and what to do thereafter?

    Cheers,

    Jay-R

    Good day, Petko.

I already received the FSB Data Source script.  Thanks for sending it.  I appreciate it.

I have some FSB Pro questions for you if you don’t mind.

    1. Can you please explain how the comparator works? I tried to dabble with it a little bit but I don’t really know how to put it into use.

    2. What is the use of FSB Pro bridge? From what I understand in Popov’s videos, the FSB Pro Bridge is used to connect to the MT4 terminal; however, I really don’t understand the purpose in doing this aside from the fact that I can switch my FSB Pro into trader mode while linking the software to my MT4.  What is the benefit in using the Bridge?

    3. May I know who the data provider for the FSB Pro Demo Data? Is it the same with the Metatrader-Demo used with EA Studio, which is JFD?

    4. Can I make a portfolio expert advisor using FSB Pro, similar to EA Studio?

    5. Based on experience, up to how many generators could I simultaneously run in FSB Pro? Currently, I’m running 2 generators simultaneously.  Can I still add more generators without affecting the overall performance of the software?

    6. Adding to position… Which is better to use? MT5 or MT4?

When I was watching Popov’s videos in youtube (either from 2014 or 2015), I could remember him mentioning that MT5 is better to use in strategies involving “adding to position” instead of MT4.  I believe it was something to do regarding FIFO.  Does this still apply now?

Looking forward to hear from you.

    Cheers,

    Good day Petko,

You mentioned every now and then in the courses that once the initial 5 count of trades and profit factor of 1.2 has been reached, you start the counting of trades again and also the observation of the profit factor using FxBlue.

So my question is when you start the counting of trades again, do you refresh FxBlue so that the count of trades will start at 0 trades? Is this even possible to do?

Or you just let the succeeding count continue starting from trade number 5?

I’m asking this because I’m anticipating a situation wherein the first count might actually have very good results (e.g. 5 trades, and profit factor of 10), but the succeeding trades might not be so good but the profit factor might still reach 1.2 not because of the current performance of the trades but based on the “overall” performance over the last 10 trades, thereby making an inaccurate assessment of the most recent performance of the algos.

Yes, I already watched that video Petko.  That was where I actually learned about the FSB Data Source script.

Thanks for mentioning that Petko.  I”m still a long way of reaching the 500k bars but I’ll keep that in mind.  However, I might just stick with your 300k limit recommendation on the m1 chart since the logic behind it makes sense to me.

By the way, can you  please send me the FSB Data Source script for FSB Pro? I’m beginning to read on the forum of Forex Software, and I can’t seem to find it even with the thread wherein Popov posted the export to csv script.

    Many thanks.

Thanks, Petko.  Yes, I’m using the recommended number of bars based on your courses.

    Hi Petko,

Thanks for bringing that up.  That’s actually one of my concerns regarding Metatrader-Demo data–that it would eventually be stopped.

    Good day Petko.

Does the script for FSB Pro limit the number of bars to be exported up to 100,000 only? I exported the same currency pair using the EA Studio script and was able to generate more than 100,000 bars, but when I used the script for FSB Pro, it stopped at 100,000 bars.  Is there a remedy to this?

    Cheers,

    Hi Andi,

    Thanks.  That’s an encouragement.

And thanks for mentioning regarding the Metatrader-Demo data.  Although I’m collecting JFD’s historical data for both live and demo I still haven’t compared them with Metatrader-Demo’s historical data, but my algos are currently running with JFD demo but generated using the data from Metatrader-Demo, of which are showing a relatively good performance.

The one that I tested for compatibility was my Pepperstone live and demo, and JFD live and demo as well.

    Hi Andi.

Currently, I’m collecting data from Pepperstone and JFD.

Was supposed to include Axitrader but didn’t push through with it since the data coming from their demo was very insufficient to test in comparison to their live data.

I have another existing live account with IC Markets.  I’m still thinking whether to include them for my data collection.

Lastly, I just want to make mention that, for diversification purposes over data collection, I’m also eyeing FxPro since I want my brokers to be in different jurisdictions as well.

(To those who might read this comment, please don’t take this as a recommendation, I’m not affiliated with any of the brokers I mentioned)

By the way Andi, I just wanted to ask for your opinion regarding data collection..

Suppose you already tested both live and demo accounts from the same broker and their historical data is already similar and relatively safe to build strategies on, do you collect data from both the live and demo accounts? Or you simply to collect from either of them (perhaps from the live account) since their historical data are already similar?

I’m asking this because I’m currently using a VPS while collecting data from both live and demo accounts from both brokers, and so obviously, the more RAM is needed for my VPS account.

Am I overdoing it with the way I’m collecting data?

    Cheers,

Thanks Petko.  It’s nice to have someone who has the experience to have his thoughts on this matter.

Yes, I’m definitely for risk-diversification as well.

Now that you’ve mentioned it, what are your thoughts if I’ll pair, say, AUDUSD and EURJPY?  The reason why I’m asking especially with regards to these currency pairs is that although they are balanced—1USD,  1EUR, 1AUD, and 1JPY—AUDUSD has AUD (a risk currency), while EURJPY has JPY (a safe haven currency).

For my manual trading, I usually just trade either of the two in the event that there is a risk-on, risk-off mood in the market.  As an algo trader who trades fully automated, would you proceed in trading these currency pair combinations simultaneously?

    Kind regards,

    Hi Petko,

I associated NY as New York (as in NY session).  I think what you meant was New Year =)

Yes, I get your point.  And yes, I’ll pause the EA’s during that time.  I also take a break from manual trading during those periods.

    Cheers,
